Application Timing
Needless to say, weather is always a factor we cannot control that can potentially have some impact on when we’re able to apply our spray regimen on clients’ lawns. As such these date ranges aren’t etched in stone but they’re typically flexible enough to accommodate changing weather conditions during the growing season.

Round 1: Sometime in May Round 2: June or July Round 3: July or August Round 4: August or September |
As per the above, you will typically receive your first application in the month of May and then at approximately 4 to 6 week intervals thereafter, always “weather-permitting”. It’s not uncommon for us to have to postpone a day or two, occasionally, due to rain and/or excessive wind, or to start very early in the morning or work into the evening, or on the occasional Saturday or Sunday to do any “catch-up” when we may fall behind due to inclement weather.
We typically start Round 1 once your lawn has had a chance to “green up” a bit. This gives you an opportunity to do any power-raking, aeration, and any Spring clean-up, hopefully by the end of April, and it gives your grass and weeds a chance to begin growing. Lawns must be nearly fully out of dormancy before we can apply any fertilizers or herbicides effectively and safely.
As mentioned, the herbicide component of our spray is a non-residual systemic herbicide and only works on actively growing broadleaf weeds. Therefore, we do our best to time the first application once “green up” takes place and those notorious dandelions are beginning to surface. The same is true for the fertilizer to be effective. You want your lawn to be actively growing in this case as well.
